John Krusinski's passion for giving back & raising funds for Non-Profits begin in 2015 when he lead his Fraternity to a very successful Walk for ALS, the first on CCSU Campus, raising nearly $12,000 for Lou Gehrig's Disease.
After graduating College, he discovered an Organization called Home Base & an event called Run to Home Base that combined three of his favorite things at the time; running 5Ks, Supporting our Veterans & Fenway Park. For five years, John raised funds for Home Base & participated in Run to Home Base, a 5K that raised money for our Veterans' Families with the finish line crossing Home at Fenway Park.
In 2016, John's family learned that his Father's kidneys were failing him & needed a living donation ASAP. After waiting for almost a year, John decided to write a message on the back of his truck that got more attention than he could've ever thought, receiving phone calls from strangers all across the country asking how to register to be a donor. In the end, On July 27, 2017, John's Dad received his Kidney.
When John was a kid, his Dad & Grandpas would outline the entire house & fill all the trees, even the basketball hoop, with Christmas lights. Since then, he was obsessed with Christmas Decorations. When he moved back home to Milford, he began making a list of all his favorite homes each year to return to the following year. After sharing this list with a few friends & family online, John began getting requests from friends of friends & other strangers for this list so often that he created the Facebook Page, "Christmas in Milford, CT". Now with over 8,000 followers, this page is dedicated to the many beautifully decorated homes in Milford & even our surrounding cities.
For someone whose favorite day of the year has always been his own Birthday, when Covid-19 interrupted our lives in 2020, John became heartbroken knowing that kids in Milford wouldn't be able to celebrate their special day with their friends. So he put together a Facebook group, gathered a couple dozen strangers & helped over 100 people, from age 3 all the way to 98, celebrate their Birthday with a Drive-by Parade. This was such an amazing experience with the Community!
One of John's biggest passions is making people smile, especially Children. As a lifelong donor to Toys for Tots, in 2018, he began collecting Toys himself right out of his Garage & then in 2019, built a large-scale Post Office type mailbox known as "Santa's big Red Mailbox" that sits in his front yard through November & December collecting donations. Every year, Santa's Mailbox collects thousands of dollars worth of toys & even monetary donations to purchase Bicycles. Since 2020, John has received 37 Bicycles to donate to Toys for Tots & every year exceeds the total from the previous year. Click on the image above to view our 2022 Amazon Wish List!
